Metawe was founded in 1999 as a consulting firm for Indigenous youth. It focuses on giving them the support and tools they need to become successful adults. The goal is to build healthy relationships as well as life skills. The shop encourages the development of sustainable games, such as Photosynthesis. The shop actively supports designers via Kickstarter campaigns and retail purchases. The shop received mixed reactions in its first month.
